Kwara Governor's Aide, Ajakaye Petitions Police Over Alleged Defamation

Rafiu Ajakaye, an aide to the incumbent Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has petitioned the police over alleged defamation of his personality by a siblings who are politician and Bloger in the state.

Ajakaye in the petition dated October 6, 2022 which he forwarded to the Kwara State Police Command, copy of which was made available to The Catalyst Cable, is specifically demanding for the prosecution of the siblings; Abdulrasheed Akogun popularly referred to as "Shoboi" and his brother, Dare Akogun.

Ajakaye, who is Governor AbdulRazaq's current Chief Press Secretary (CPS) alleged in the petition that the Akogun brothers "criminally" defamed his person via an information published on a Social Media: a WhatsApp post dated 30th of September, 2022 wherein he was accused to have influenced the decision of the Kwara State government to release the sum of N15 Million public fund to finance the chairmanship election of the state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

While requesting the police to launch an investigate into the allegation, Ajakaye, who described the allegation as "weighty falsehood and a figment of the imaginations" of the Akogun brothers, however, emphatically declared that the allegations were injurious and have criminally defamed his character before a right thinking members of the society.

He added that the allegations were another way of inciting the public against the administration of his principal, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and other members of his government.
 
“These claims on the popular WhatsApp platform are, on all fronts, malicious and mere concocted lies. These claims have given rise to injurious insinuations and snide remarks against my person. I seek legitimate protection of the law to save my name as a human being, family man, citizen, and public officer“.
