Former governor of Kano State and founder of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso over the weekend, charged the northerners living and doing businesses across Yorubaland not allow themselves to be used in the negative ways for the forthcoming year 2023 general elections.
Kwankwaso, who is the presidential candidate of New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) in the forthcoming general elections, specifically admonished the northerners, u DER the aegis of Arewa natives to see South West region as their home and the people as their fellow brothers and sisters.
Kwankwaso spoke during the inauguration of the South West Executive of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and conferment of the Award of Peace Ambassador on governor Dapo Abiodun, which held on Saturday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
Represented by the NNPP governorship candidate in Ogun State, Chief (Dr.) Jackie Adunni Kassim, the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement further urged the Arewa natives to continually remain law abiding and cooperate maximally with governments at all levels so as to enhance sustenance of peace in the entire South West zone.
While reiterating his beliefs in what the ACF is doing to its members' voices, Kwankwaso also urged them to continue to work for the peace, stability and unity of the South West and Nigeria in particular, stressing that "with the situation of Nigeria today, everybody has to know that we are still one no matter the rumours".
"Everybody should just have a free mind to go about their business and do their jobs. They should not listen to rumours because rumours kill, this one will hear one thing and by the time he sends the message to the next point, it is either minus or plus".
"The message keeps magnifying from one to another. Nigerians should be wary of purveyors of fake news and their platforms. We should not heed to divisive messages. Paper and pen could be very dangerous. So, Nigerians should be on guard against rumours and the peddlers".
"I urge northerners in Ogun West and SouthWest to be peaceful and law abiding so that the prevailing peaceful relations and harmony will endure. I urge you to see Southwest as your home, cooperate with people and governments in Southwest to ensure that peace continue to reign everywhere. Politics is coming now, don't be used in the negative ways."
He however, appreciated the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his efforts towards ensuring that peace reign everywhere across the state.
